SHOWBUS international 2020 is the SHOWBUS flyby
on the A40 from Oxford to Beaconsfield for 2020
COVID restrictions have resulted in most bus rallies being cancelled this year. Despite the vastness of our Herts Showground display area we Would struggle to maintain the required social distancing, so we are moving the display to a large section of the A40 where enthusiats can spread themselves out along the entire 30 mile route.
The first electric doubledeck bus will visit the area, taking part in the flyby, leaving Beaconsfield around 1000h and being greeted in Wycombe High Street in the SHOWBUS TRADERS VILLAGE by the Mayor of Wycombe.
From approximately 1000h buses will leave the M40 Services at Beaconsfield and Wheatley every couple of minutes. Buses will not congregate at either venue.
See the map for some of the attractions and recommended photo locations, though much of the route is scenic with great backdrops for you pictures.
Northbound Buses will pause at Wycombe Retail Park for 5 minutes each. Across the road towards town is the local Kwik-Fit tyres, the former Thames Valley Bus Garage.
Another 5 minute stop will take place in High Wycombe High Street by the SHOWBUS TRADERS VILLAGE
High Wycombe Bus Station will be a hub in both directions with buses pulling on to stands for a few minutes. Photographers are recommended to view from adjoining streets, rather than the concourse, which can be dangerous with reversing buses.
Buses will also pause northbound opposite Thame Town Hall.
Southbound Buses 5 minute stops will take place at Thame Town Hall bus stop and again at the Kings Hotel, Stokenchurch, a one time refreshment stop for long distance coaches, and at the bus stop in Beaconsfield Old Town.
The Traders Village will take place in High Wycombe historic Market Place, along the High Street and under the old Market Place Building and Guildhall.
You can join the flyby by travelling on normal services buses from Beaconsfield to Oxford using Carousel buses 40 and 102 with Arriva 280, click here. There are buses connecting the flyby from numerous train and underground stations too, click here.
We always like to hear from visitors to Showbus, and entrants too, and we would welcome suggestions as to what attractions you would like to see at the 2020 event and at 2021 when we hope to be back at the Hertfordshire County Showground. Contact us via the Contacts page
