On closer inspection these red Routemasters are not all they seem, their logos and destination blinds baring subtle differences from their London heritage. Operated by GM Buses on the 143 route, RM2000 (CUV200C) is heading for Piccadilly as advertised on its sides and front.
SEPTEMBER 1998 RELEASE
28604 GM Buses Leyland Atlantean AN68 Northern Counties.
With deregulation the classic Greater Manchester buses dispersed and began to appear in a variety of liveries and colours. GM Buses initially operated these buses in their existing colours prior to adopting a new company livery. 7796 (UNA796S) operates route 210 to Piccadilly via Belle Vue, Denton and Hyde assigned to the City Central division.

This combination of the Bedford TK with the short dropside body looks good in the bright orange colours of GM Buses. Complementing the other models in this fleet, OBN143M was often used to tow disabled buses and carries a crate of spare parts.

This very elegant but short·lived Birkenhead & District livery operated by GM Buses South is on 4043 (ANA43T), working service 10A to Birkenhead at a flat fare of £1, as displayed in the front windscreen.
