Maple Grove Transit was only born in 1990. In 1991, the city of Maple Grove contracted fixed-route operations to Twin Cities MetroTransit, who continue to operate the service today out of their MJ Ruter garage in Brooklyn Center. Dial-a-ride service is provided by Midwest Paratransit. There were three main express routes to downtown Minneapolis and one to Minnesota Unversity. The express fleet in 2011 was a mixture of Gillig Phantoms and MCI coaches like MG12 a 2000 40ft Phantom and 60024 a new MCI D4500CT, plus New Flyer artics and five low floor D40LF. |

In 2026 the D60 artics had been replaced by Xcelsior XD60, the Phantoms by a much smaller number of Gillig BRT models, whilst the MCI D4500CT was still in favour, though even 60024 had left the fleet for MetroTransit. All buses were numbered in the Metro Transit series.
