Marshall has just won the contract to refurbish the 40
Routemasters returning to London service from around the country, whether acquired from
provincial operators or preservationists. The first picture shows the first vehicles in the works, with a former
Stagecoach example from Workington and a former Halifax Joint example in the background with the more
traditional red London examples. Outside a Reading Mainline, Halifax Joint and Black Prince example
await their turn in the workshop. The buses are towed up from the East Thames TfL depot. The finished
examples are destined for route 13 are expected to be quite distinctive externally with new one piece
windscreen and hopper side windows. Marshalls hope to refurbish more of the Routemater fleet.
