Alpine Spirit High Country Coaches

Myrtleford based Alpine Spirit Coaches ceased trading from the end of December 2023. The family owners had chosen to persue alternative business options having reflected on their future during COVID.

 Alpine Spirit operated a fleet of buses during the ski season linking car parks, hotels and ski lifts. The ubiquitous surplus ex Transperth Volgren CR225L bodied Mercedes O405NH being the bus of choice. Out of season the buses found work on rail replacement work in Melbourne which is where 2 (BS04OA) was seen in January 2019. It was new as Transperth 1147 (TP1147) in 1999.

 Seen on rail replacement work on the Dandenong Road in Windsor in January 2020, Passengers likely to prefer this ride to a Transperth Mercedes. The Coach Concepts bodied Volvo B9R was new to Bayside - Nuline as 28 (9197AO) in 2011 in AAT Kings livery was sold to Alpine Spirit in 2018. Balfours of Mooroopna acquired the coach in 2024 as their 14, but soone disposed of it to Kanga in Adelaide where it gained new rego XS71IP

 A quartet of Transperth Mercedes are seen at the Myrtleford depot in April 2021, left to right 1 (BS02NI), 5 (BS04NA), 3 (BS02NJ) and 8 (BS04OE) ex Transperth 1146 (TP1146), 1150 (TP1150), 1148 (TP1148) and 1716 (TP1716) respectively all dating from 1999.

 Also in the depot yard in April 2021 was 7744AO a Toyota HiAce Commuter new to Local operator Oak's in 2006. It was subsequently sold to a rental firm on the Gold Coast.

 In the garage was another HiAce, BS04OB dating from 2014 and then sold locally plus Fuso Rosa BS02CP new to Avis in 2009 and sold on to Eaglerange Transit at Ovens.

 Another quartet of Transperth Mercedes looking pretty much as they did when they left Perth with their green areas painted black. From left to right we have 6 (BS04NZ), 4 (BS04OD) 7 (BS02NL) - and 2, seen earlier at Federation Square - the other three being former 1152 (TP1152), 1149 (TP1149) and 1153 (TP1153).

 All eight Mercedes were sold on to Transit Systems in Melbourne and numbered 400, 402-408 in order. By April 2025 they were languishing out of use at the back of the Footscray depot yard. From left to right we have 402, 405, 404 & 408, with 405 and 408 displaying the chilly "Snow Bus" destination.

 Oddly 7 (407) had been reregistered BS12RE, 406 got a new rego as BS12RD and 403 as BS10TP, the rest kept their Alpine Spirit regos. Alongside 407 is Transit Systems's own 76 (2376AO) a 2001 Scania L94UB with Volgren CR221L bodywork.

 New in 2011 to Bayside-Nuline this Coach Concepts bodied Volvo B9R was seen in company with Toyota HiAce BS03OL parked up in West Melbourne in December 2025. Its current owner was unkown though it last operated for Alpine Spirit.
