Bristol Omnibus Bristol K5G ECW 8583 GHT127
Amazingly two pre-war Bristol doubledeckers survive. This ECW bodied K5G, 8583 (GHT127), actually dates from 1941 and is now in open top form, since operated by Brighton, Hove & District on the seafront. This seaside role helped it to last longer than its contemporaries. It is seen here ferrying passengers on trips from the Weston Helicopter Museum on the occasion of the West of England August Rally. It carries Guide Friday livery and was used on occasion on Bath City tours.

The K enjoyed something of a second coming in the eighties. It was used on Guide Friday services and worked on a special occasion in London. It is seen approaching the award dais at Showbus, Woburn Abbey.

The second surviving K, GHT154 also survived as an open topper, but has been reroofed and painted in the Bristol City prewar colours of dark blue and white, as seen here at the 1998 Weston event.

The bus is seen four summers later at the Cardiff Centenary event in that city's centre.

Looking resplendent in some rare sunshine in summer 2012 is C3336 (GHT154) at the Newbury rally. This particular picture was reproduced on the new SHOWBUS publicity banner that year.
