Swindon Corporation Daimler CVD6SD Park Royal 57
Swindon Corporation had a penchant for centre entrance singledeckers, aside froma handful of forward entrance Leyland Cubs. This preserved Park Royal bodied Daimler CVD6SD, 57 (EMW893), dates from 1947 and was one of a batch of fifteen. It is seen in June 1977 climbing Windsor Castle Hill on the road run from Windsor to Hillingdon Showbus to celebrate Her Majesty's Silver Jubilee.

Swindon Corporation Daimler Freeline Park Royal 83
Seen in Swindon is one of the next - and last - batch of centre entrance buses, just four 1954 Park Royal boded Daimler Freelines. Around 700 Freelines were built, but the vast majority was exported worldwide: New Zealand, Africa, Israel, Australia, Norway. Aside from 83 (KHR783) and its three stablemates and around thirty coaches, Great Yarmouth had the last eight, Cleethorpes had two and Glasgow and SHMD just one each.

Swindon Corporation Leyland Leopard PSU4 Seddon 143
Eleven dual door AEC Reliances, bodied by Willowbrook, arrived over 1963-1964 to replace the Freelines, followed by a trio of short PSU4 Leyland Leopards in 1967 with unusual Seddon dual door bodies. This is Swindon's last singledecker bought, 143 (JMW543F), it is seen around 1970 on a school run, though curiously it has a trade plate in the window.

Swindon Bus Station
This view of Swindon's old bus station shows an interesting mix of vehicles. Most are with Bristol Omnibus, including the FLF Lodekka onstand. A rear entrance Wilts & Dorset Lodekka is foremost, but two of Swindon's buses stand out in blue and cream. The further bus is a Northern Counties bodied Daimler Fleetline, but nearer is a Daimler CVG6 bodied by Weymann or Roe which shows off how upright the rear of the body is.

Swindon Corporation Daimler CVG6-30 Northern Counties 144 & Leyland Titan PD2A Weymann 126
One of Swindon's last front engined doubledeckers, 144 (JAM144E), part of a trio, and the first with front entrances. It is passing a well presented Weymann bodied Leyland Titan PD2A, 126 (126AHR), one of five new in 1962 and the deckers bought before the Northern Counties bodied Daimler CVG6-30, like 144.
