Negotiating the narrow streets alongside Amsterdam's canals is not easy, and the streets are home to many city residents. To provide a bus service several Mercedes Sprinter 413CDi were deployed in late 2000 of which this was numerically the first, 2093 (BJ-SR-24), seen on the service - marketed as De Opstapper - in June 2005.

Two Sprinters are seen on layover a year or so after the service started, with 2096 (BJ-SR-27) in front.

In 2008 the De Opstapper service was rebranded Stop/Go with a fleet of blue and green liveried O515CDi Sprinters. This is 2054 (BT-ZS-92) seen in October 2010 shortly before the service was withdrawn.

Small vehicles are still in the GVB fleet, but not for passenger use. Cars like this VW Lupo, 6-TRV-69, seen in July 2014, are used for staff transport, crew transfer, revenue inspectors, etc.

This VW Combi, also seen in Amsterdam in July 2014, has a dual use with a cargo compartment at the rear. It is carrying number 2 (VJ-825-G), though it is not clear whether it is a fleet number or not.
