A handful of MCW MetroRiders found their way to New Zealand. It is not known if this one was imported new or secondhand, probably imported from a London operator from its livery. It is on the Auckland Explorer Tour by the Ferry Building in April 2000.

Thought to be a different MetroRider is seen with a host of striped Stagecoach Auckland buses.

 In Easter 2005 Optare MetroRider AJI939 was being used on the Auckland Explorer in a wrap for P&O Cruises. |
 A better view of the MetroRider was captured a couple of days later. |
