Prior to Gillig Advantages New Flyers were in favour, with ten (820-829), delivered as part of a joint order with Blacksburg Transit in 1998. They were D35LF models and the company's first low floors, they were joined by two more in 2001, of which this, 840, is one. All are now withdrawn, the last retiring in 2015.

Kept at the nearby Commonwealth Coach & Trolley Museum in Roanoke, with the Museum's insignia on the front dash, is former GMC RTS 819 of 1981, which was ousted by the initial batch of New Flyers.

The fleet hosted four Ford cutaways, not used for paratransit as such, but on low patronage services. This is 303, new in 2007 and still extant in 2015.
