 Electric traction comes into its own on San Francisco's steep roads. This June 2017 view of 5503 at the junction of Powell and Sacremento well illustrates. Imagine the xhaust cloud on some diesel buses pulling off from this hill stop.

 Like the picture of ETI 5503, this one of 5517 was taken from a Powell Street cable car the previous day. Both trolleys are on route 1, which hauls itself up and down the downtown slopes.
