A visit to the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum south west of Pittsburgh in July 2011, found this native PCC car, 1711, built by St Louis Car Co in 1949 for Pittsburgh Railways in the sheds. Interestingly the museum is some 25 miles from Pittsburgh and on lines once used by commuters to the city. In the early days these trams used to run through some amazingly rural scenery.

Two years older than Pittsburgh 1711 is Philadelphia Transportation Company's 2711 built for Philly by the same manufacturer. Unlike Pittsburgh, Philadelphia still has a tramway.

This streetcar for New Orleans is in a very different style. However car 832 was built by Perley Thomas way back in 1923.

Also dating from 1923 is car 5326 built by JG Brill for the Philadelphia Rapid Transit Co. The tram is being taken around the museum tracks, here heading from the main entrance and museum shop and working sheds to a newer storage facility where most of the museum's collection is housed. The run then returns the tram back past the entrance and out along a country trail and via a very tight turning circle to come back and complete its journey.

An external view of 5326 before it made its run.
