Older vehicles represented in the Valley Metro fleet were typified by New Flyer D40LF 3704 and RTS 4467 below. The D40 was from a batch of 29 new in 1996. New Flyers Xcelsiors dominated the fleet twenty years later.

TMC RTS 4467 is seen at Central Station, the same location as for 3704 above. Around 150 RTS models joined the fleet for a decade from 1979 supplied by GMC and then TMC.

Surviving in the old livery in late 1999 was a surviving MAN SG310 artic. Fifty six MAN artics joined the fleet between 1978 and 1985, the initial twenty were supplied through General Motors (AMG). This is one from the last batch of SG310. A new passenger is fixing his bike into the front loading cycle rack.
