Arriva the Shires Volvo B7RLE Wright 3866
High Wycombe received its first new buses for many a year in 2005 with a batch of seven Wright bodied Volvo B7RLE singledeckers for newly branded Rainbow Route Green Route 31. The last batch of new buses were the Dart SLFs delivered in 1996 at about the time that City of Oxford took over the local depot and services. Here 3866 has the appropriate registration KE05FMO, reflecting several Thames Valley Bristols delivered between 1949 and 1951, many of which would have been delivered new to High Wycombe. Volvo 3866 is seen emerging from High Wycombe's Bus Station in 2005.

Sister Volvo B7RLE 3864 (KE05FMU) is seen in Frogmoor on route to Downley.

Great play is made of the route's linking of the town's bus and rail stations with both destinations along its convoluted cross town route. One of the Volvos is seen climbing past the Railway Station up the steep Amersham Hill to the north of the town centre.

Volvo 3866 is seen again, this time in Frogmoor, enabling an offside view. Note, though seen at the same stop as 3864, this one is bound for the other terminus of the 31, Penn.

Another of the batch, 3862 (KE05FMV), descends past the Staton heading for the town centre and beyond to Downley. The last bus of the batch, 3867 (KE05FMM) is void of route branding and apart from deputising on the 31 ventures on to other Wycombe routes to give passengers a treat. At least that was how it was supposed to be, but other B7RLE buses frequently found themselves roaming teh rest of the Wycmbe network.
