One of a pair of Northern Counties bodies Volvo B6 singledeckers bought new for the Motts Yellow Bus fleet, but passed a year later to The Shires with the Yellow Bus operation. They both dovetailed nicely with the fleet of B6/NCME already in service with Shires, both were based at Wycombe and 3138 (L922LJO) had found its way to Heathrow Airport on the joint Bee Line operation from Wycombe. Shires also had a B6 in a dedicated green/yellow livery for the service, but it somehow did not always make it on to the route.

But sometimes it does make it! Volvo B6 3126 (M726OMJ) is seen here in the later version of the Airport Link livery, emphasising the connections between Heathrow and Slough as the joint 74 service to Wycombe interlinked with First Beeline's 75 to Maidenhead via Slough. Volvo 3126 is seen here in Farnham Road, Slough.

Another view showing the offside of the same bus in Slough.

Volvo 3105 (L305HPP) is the first of the batch of Northern Counties bodied B6 models, it is seen in company with a fellow member of the batch in Stevenage, though that vehicle had by then acquired Arriva livery.

MK Metro Plaxton Beaver 2 bodied Mercedes Vario 116 (R116DNV) is seen outside MK hospital being overtaken by a Scania L113CRL with Northern Counties Paladin bodywork on Aylesbury & The Vale's X15 service. This long established express route used to operate from Milton Keynes to Reading via Aylesbury and High Wycombe and was jointly operated by Luton & District, Reading Buses and Wycombe Bus. The route has since been truncated at Aylesbury despite Arriva the Shires now spanning the entire route. The Aylesbury - Wing - Milton Keynes service became the 150 and an additional link, the X60, linked the two towns via Buckingham both MAX branded. |
