Tillingbourne operations have now ceased |
Duple Dominant bus bodies have not been well known for their durability, and Leyland Tiger and Volvo B10M chassis have found themselves rebodied. This Tiger, B877OLJ, is seen in service in Reading on Jan 5th 1998. Route 12 was once a joint Aldershot & District/Thames Valley working between the two operating companies headquarters and the preserve of Dennis Lolines and Bristol Lodekkas respectively.

In mild contrast to the B10M above, this Derwent, also seen in Reading but on the 141, is believed to be on a Leyland Tiger chassis, one of a batch originally delivered for service in Brixham.

A surprise purchases in 1998 was a number of secondhand Volvo B10M doubledeckers with East Lancs bodywork from London & Country, principally to cope with loadings on the Reading service. Volvo H683HPF is seen here at Reading Station accompanied by a Reading Excel and a Reading Mainline Routemaster, providing some stark contrasts.
