Hillingdon Showbuses were a time for Alder Valley and Thames Valley buses to come together, particularly to pose for photos at the end of the weekend. Here K6A 446 (DBL154) is seen with Thames Valley LWL6B 616 (GJB264), one of the first three RELL6G buses, a new VR, 930 (HPK507N) and an Alder Valley liveried Loline. |
The merger of Thames Valley with Aldershot & District produced a fleet with Bristol Lodekkas and Dennis Lolines, the latter a product built under licence from Bristol as a Lodekka clone. Some Lolines found themselves relocated to Thames Valley depots. This one is the one seen above at a Hillingdon Showbus, believed from Maidenhead depot, former Weymann bodied Aldershot & District 525 (AAA525C), then 852 in the Alder Valley numbering.

Loline 853 (AAA526C) is seen in service in the original A&D area. |
Most vehicles in this shot are in NBC poppy red. The Loline on the left is Weymann bodied, but a Ribble red Alexander bodied one is also visible. On the right is a Park Royal bodied AEC Reliance in DP livery and a former performer on London services. Centre stage is a Metro-Cammell bodied Reliance, formerly A&D 539 (HHO539E), as AV 343. |
