Selkent Leyland L55 (C55CHM) was amongst the first preserved Olympians. The ECW bodied Leyland was seen at SHOWBUS international 2001. It did not last long in preservation Skylark Travel being bought by Cavalier (Huntingdon & District) as their 4232 in 2006 and ending up again with Stagecoach when they took the operation over in 2008 and gaining new fleetnumber 14389. Its life continued passing to Moxon Tours of Oldcotes in 2009 and on to Red Bus Cumbria in Workington around 2014 and was last reported in 2015 as a ststic classroom at Derwent Vale School in Workington. |
Here L55 is being admired alongside RM8 (VLT8). |
Earlier in the year this nearside view was taken of L55 at the Southsea Spectacular. |
Northern Counties bodied Volvo Olympian VN5 (P805GMU) was pressed into service still in London Red and with hastily modified fleetnames with Stagecoach Cambridge. At least they found suitable blinds - no easy task with London style destination boxes.
|
Sister Olympian VN7 (P807GMU), seen in Cambridge Bus Station, did not do so well in the destination blind department.
