There were over 50 Plaxton bodied coaches at SHOWBUS and most were lined up facing the runway
starting with the older coaches. Winner of the best Bedford award was 5188RU, a 1963 Bedford
VAL14 with early Plaxton Panorama style "Val" coachwork in the livery of Dukeries Coaches,
but entered by Johnson Brothers. Johnsons also entered a splendid Neoplan coach and a new
Scania Irizar PB in the livery of associated company, Redfern Travel.

The classic Plaxton Panorama coach style which saw the company make big strides into the
then Duple dominated market, was this model, seen on a Leyland Leopard chassis for coach tour.
The coach was Trent 565 (MRC565E), dating from 1967.

From the other end of the Elites, Barton's Leyland Leopard 1246 (RVO246L) leads the line up. The Plaxton
Panorama Elite Express body has a different style of side moulding to normal, where the split
waist line mouldings merge into one to leave extra room for the Barton fleetname.
