Yorkshire Traction set up Barnsley & District as a seperate low cost operation, reviving the original trading name of Yorkshire Traction as a BET subsidiary tram operator started in 2002. Former United Counties Leyland National 2, 582 (NRP582V), saw further service with the new Traction Group subsidiary. The bus, numbered 219, is seen in Sheffield's main bus station in 2000.
