Seen in Keswick last Sunday is Stagecoach Cumbria & North Lancs Alexander Dennis Enviro400 19161 (VLT217). The bus was new with registration NK07HBD to Stagecoach Busways in Newcastle, its age has been disguised by the transfer of London Routemaster RM217 original registration VLT217. The likely scenario is that it sustained some roof damage and was despatched to Cumbria and converted, as seen, to a permanent open topper. Dubbed "Borrowdale" it joined several other Stagecoach "accident conversions" roaming the Lake District in a special "Lakes" livery. Much has been written about the excellent network of interconnecting services delivered by Stagecoach across the area and supported by excellent publicity online and in print to make a scenic trip across the area very accessible seven days a week. Seven open toppers were purpose built in 2017, Wright bodied Volvo B5TL which are used on the 599 serving the central tourist meccas between Windermere and Ambleside.
