Grayscroft Volvo Citybus NCME G103NGN ex London Buses VC3
There will be several former London Buses taking part in the SHOWBUSflyby in two weeks time from Beaconsfield to Wheatley along the A40. This Northern Counties bodied Volvo Citybus B10M was VC3 (G103NGN) and joined the London Generla division for route 133, but was fitted with coach seats for occasional private hire work. It spent most of its post London career with Grayscroft of Mablethorpe registered RTL1680. The bus is seen in High Wycombe a year ago on the occasion of the Amersham & District Motorbus Society's running day to mark the centenary of the Amersham & District Motorbus Company. The bus is believed to be preserved and probably destined to be restored to London red livery. It is about to enter Church Street in the town centre, leading from Frogmoor, site of the old Thames Valley Bus Station, to the All Saints Parish Church. The section of Caste Street is only wide enough for one vehicle at a time, it is supposedly restricted to buses only and the road layout is designed to allow buses to wait at one end or the other to check the road si clear to proceed. Otherwise it is a pedestrian zone, but an amazing number of local motorists happily ignore the "No entry except buses" signs. In a fortnight's time it is going to be a busy thoroughfare with at times buses every 2 to 3 minutes passing through on the flyby in both directions.
An added attraction nearby is Hughenden Manor, the gardens and parkland of which are now open, but visitors must pre book. The Manor was the former home of Queen Victoria's favourite Prime Minister, Benjamin Disraeli.
