Seen in their Chadderton depot on Wednesday was Yelloway's Alexander Dennis Enviro400 M13YEL. It is thought the bus was new to now defunct Dewhirsts as SN16ORW, which was shown at SHOWBUS international 2016. The company has a long and illustrious history, founded in Rochdale in 1904 and became famous as Yelloway Motor Services operating express coach services to London and South West England. They were a major player and National Express came to an accommodation with them to become part of the nation's express coach network. In 1985 the company was sold to Carlton PSV, the Neoplan dealer with Yelloways operating a number of Skyliners. Sadly deregulation saw the company expand its bus work, but it was a budget operation and it folded in 1988. Some twenty years later Courtesy Coaches revived the name and livery and trade under it today.
Yelloway also had another Enviro, a 400MMC ex Go Goodwins GO02OMC, first registered YX66WLJ, but Yelloway registered it as M90YEL. That bus did not stay long in either Manchester fleet and moved on to Alermaston Coach Lines, reverting to GO02OMC.
