The Victorian government recently decided to auction off scores of Class W Melbourne trams which had been stored for years. One successful bidder was Fremantle Media, producers of the iconic TV show Neighbours. We are grateful to Naomi Orm, assistant to the Executive Producer, for the photo of their tram arriving at the Nunawading Studios. Naomi is in the picture with the Neighbours Executive Producer, Jason Herbison. It is believed that the tram will become a cafe in the show, whether it will be a rival to the famous Harolds or part of that establishmentis remains to be seen. A few weeks earlier Alan Fletcher, who plays Dr Karl Kennedy, was present when reporters covered the tram acquisition for the media, saying how delighted he was that this icon of Melbourne would be joining the icon of TV.
