Western National Bristol Lodekka 1969 H5G 137
This week's picture comes courtesy of Ed Goodridge and was taken last weekend at South Devon Railway's Buckfastleigh Station. On the left is an early 1960 ECW bodied Bristol Lodekka FLF6G, Western National 1969 (468FTT). The Western National bus alongside, 137 (FJ8967), has a much more interesting history. New in 1933 this was a Brush bodied rare Bristol H4B, six years later it was converted to Gardner power as an H5G, then in the middle of World War II it was rebodied by Bristol with its current body. Note the wartime white edged mudguards for visibility when headlights were not allowed for fear of attracting attention from passing German bombers, particularly relevant in the vicinity of Plymouth's naval dockyards.
We have thousands of pictures to choose from for our Picture of the Week but you are welcome to send in your own. If we do not feature it here, it may appear later in our picture gallery.
Ideally pictures should be 732 pixels wide and no more than 100kB.
