EFE SHOWBUS International Rally 2004 will feature many attractions.


The Routemaster Gold Run participating vehicles will gather at Trumpington Park & Ride and travel via Shelford, Stapleford and Sawston to arrive at the Imperial War Museum at around 11.45am. The cavalcade will parade through the site to assemble at the far east end of the site by Hangar 1.
Concorde will be on display inside Hangar 1 with RM1 and RM3, selected Routemasters will pose to flank the aircraft in turn during the afternoon. So every Routemaster icon will have its time, and photo opportunity, alongside the icon of the air.
Duxford site opens at 8.00 am.on Sunday September 26th, Trumpington opens at 9.15am

REVISED SITE LAYOUT. In 2004 buses will enter the site at the far west entrance as normal, but will be immediately directed airside behind the Land Warfare Hall. Buses will line up for the pay booths in an area in which the public are excluded and will re-enter the public area between the Land Warfare Hall and the American Air Museum. This will give us an opportunity to change the display areas around and make the Rally Control area more central to the event. See the site map

OPTARE are sponsoring three prizes for Optare vehicles at EFE SHOWBUS International 2004. There will be prizes for the best Optare bus, the best low floor Optare bus and the best non-low floor Optare. There will be a special display of Optare vehicles.

Go-Ahead are sponsoring the rally plaques featuring our Routemaster, Trident, Big Ben and Concorde montage. There will be a special Go-Ahead display and prize for the best group vehicle.

First are sponsoring the prize money for entrants and once again there will be a special First Group display.

Leyland To commemorate 120 of Leyland Motors there will be a special display of Leyland buses and coaches.

Midland Red & Swindon are celebrating their centenaries in 2004 and we hope to welcome buses representing both undertakings.

ON SITE BUS - with the rally spreading from one end of the mammoth Duxford site to the other, there will be a free low floor shuttle bus running the length of the site between 11.00am and 4.15pm operated by St Dunstan's Optare Solo.

WHITTLESFORD CONNECTION - the bus service linking Whittlesford WAGN trains Station with the Museum and Showbus has been cancelled, the main reasons for which are listed here, apologies to all inconvenienced.

THE BUS STATION - will be the area immediately in front opposite the American Air Museum, which will be the Bus Station for vehicles coming and going on the Duxford Village Tours throughout the afternoon.

How much? £10 for adults, £8 for senior citizens, £6 for other concessions and FREE for under 16s. Group rates are available from the Museum. Further information is on their website. Special rates apply for entrants. In 2004 every bus entered will be entitled to three free entry permits, plus the driver.
