Drivers Federal 2
Challenged only by Croydon Bus Services Ford, the oldest bus at the Sandown display was Driver's Federal Number 2 with Grummet bodywork built in 1936.

Seen shortly after arriving, the vintage bus was parked next to the latest in modern technology, Crown's hybrid drive BCI. There was a delay whilst officials wanted to reorder the Driver display, but Number 2 was quite happy where it was and refused to start up! The minor problem was easily rectified later.

This view of Number 2 is just after it had successfully returned to Mount Waverley. Having ridden out on the bus it gives a spirited performance. I thought it was leading the convoy as the slowest bus would set the pace. As it was Number 2 had to wait a while just short of Sandown for the others to catch up!

Number 2 waits while Number 1 - the Pontiac - is pushed back into its regular slot in the display shed.
