Sydney Buses Volvo B10BLE Phoenix Orana 3945
Seen in August 2005 sporting its raised roof line, Phoenix Orana bodied 3945 (MO3945) is followed by an old Merc under the monorail track. Apparently the B10BLE buses were a bit of a rush order in time for the Olympics and did not meet all the legislative requirements for new buses in Australia. In order to have them available for the 2000 Olympics they were given a state exemption and bear plates stating that they must not be used outside of New South Wales. The buses may have been modified subsequently. Certainly the raised roof lines would not help them pass a tilt test.

Sixteen months later another raised roof Volvo, 3851 (MO3851), is seen awaiting passengers at Manly Wharf. This view shows how the raised roof has been fashioned around the rear of the bus and enclosed the exhaust on its APG Orana body.
