British Road Services was created after the war as part of a plan to enable Britain's transport systems to function together and provide a more efficient service. Using a wide cross section of vehicles for various tasks and sizes of loads, B.R.S. is arguably the most significant name in Britain's road haulage history and below is Exclusive First Editions own collection of vehicles from this famous fleet.

After De-Nationalisation various divisions of British Road Services became operated as separate companies within the National Freight Company. The Continental Ferry Service Division, therefore, became British Road Ferry Services, operating as before but changing livery. Our AEC Ergomatic registered MGY 540D, has a cab number of 349, pulling trailer number 3082V26.

This heavy duty AEC Mandator is a new variant of our AEC MkV casting. British Road Services operated several of these vehicles, registered HDM 245C, cab number CH52 will be as popular with our collectors as previous B.R.S. models.

BRS were a big user of AEC trucks as can be seen in this MKV flatbed. Working from the Mitcheldean depot, GP82, registered OSD 32 it would have been used to transport a wide variety of loads.

In a fleet dominated by AEC, Leyland, Bedford and Bristol it was good to see a few E.R.F trucks in the British Road Services livery. Based at the Wigan depot, fleet number IC 259 registered OED 94 carries a sheeted load.

The second release of our modified AEC Mk III casting depicts British Road Services vehicle registration number EVH 23, Lorry & Trailer number 42 D 107 from the Huddersfield Depot, carrying a crated Chureh organ as a back load from Huddersfield to the docks for shipping to its final destination, Cape Town.

The first of our B.R.S. releases, this attractive truck carries British Road Services' lion emblem on its cab doors, a sight well known in Britain in the ‘fifties.

It would be fair to say that there was at least one example of every British, (and many foreign) truck manufacturer in the B.R.S. fleet at one time. It is no surprise then that this Albion version of the Ergomatic design of cab is featured here. DRK 238D, fleet number AT47 being an early example of the marque.

Painted in the B.R.S. Parcel Services green livery, this Bedford TK, PJJ 618, would have served in the fleet from the early ‘sixties.

B.R.S. was divided into regional groups in 1969. Southern B.R.S. adopted a bright orange and white livery as their identlty, which included the new corporate "arrows" logo on the cab doors. VBY 354M is an accurate representation which even includes the nudge bar on its cab front.

NVP 301G moves forward in time to the early seventies where the new style fleet name was carried proudly in white, this time on the roof. Fleet number EC25, this TK pulls trailer TEB 741 loaded with two large packing crates. A point to note of detail is that the tail of the, trailer on the majority of B.R.S. vehicles were painted white to aid loading this is clearly, visible on this model.

Including another period in which the identity of B.R.S. was altered PGW 780E, fleet number AM79, depicts the vehicle as it would have been seen under THC control with the appropriate logo on its cab sides. Complete with headboard and highly detailed grill, this B.R.S. truck makes an interesting addition to the fleet.

Yet another new model released this month is this AEC Ergo in British Road Services livery. Operating from the Bristol depot, FHF 769D, fleet number RA337 gives the B.R.S. collector yet another detailed vehicle for their fleet.

Yet another delightful vehicle for the B. R. S.collector. In the very attractive livery of red, black and silver, HUB 316E, fleet number DB43 from its Leeds depot is loaded with wooden crates and cable drums. An early order is strongly advised.

British Road Services are always popular and in this model we feature the Continental Ferry Service livery. British Road Services operated many car transporters delivering cars for the various British car manufactures. They tried to match the tractor unit to the vehicle they were delivering, and hence our Bedford TK Fleet number FFB4 registered JBC 320D based at Dunstable was used for Vauxhall deliveries.
