New in 1977, this pair of AMG Metroplitan is seen on Mission Street towards the end of their days when they had been renumbered 9523 and 9527 from when new as part of the batch 500-529. |

Seen around the same time was this Flyer D900, 9651, the penultimate is a batch of 53 new in 1980. The latter half of the batch were assigned to contract runs, originally operated by Greyhound Peninsula Lines until 1990 and later Grosvenor Bus Lines which is why they had 9000 added to their fleet numbers. Behind is an elderly GMC TDH. |

SamTrans operated just fifteen on the articulated Neoplan AN460A. This one, 9126, was seen outside the Bay Transit Terminal. Again the 9-prefix indicates it was part of the contract fleet. |

Until the BART rail service to the Airport in 2003, SamTrans provided the downtown service from its contract fleet. Six of the 64 1993 batch were give 9 prefixes and assigned to the service with SFO branding and luggage racks fitted internally. This is Phantom 9759, the entire 1993 delivery was uniquely the 35ft long Phantom model, all others being the more usual 40ft. |

By October 2023 a new livery and new Xcelsior XD60 New Flyers were in evidence. Four year old 823, part of a batch of 55 is seen from the BART train. With it are a pair of MUNI and Gillig BRT 407. SamTrans obviously turned to New Fyer for artics as Gillig only produce rigids.
