London RC class - AEC Reliance Willowbrook
Green Line RC6 CUV64C
A vague attempt at modernisation of the Green Line fleet was tried in 1965 with a batch of 14 Willowbrook bodied AEC Reliances, of which this is the 6th RC6 (CUV64C). They were used on the Windsor - London - Sevenoaks/Tunbridge Wells services 705, 704 respectively. This one is seen on the 705 when new at Langley on the A4. The livery was a silver grey with green band and yellow running boards.

EFE has modelled the RC and this is the photo they used to promote the model. The coach, RC5, in common with the rest of the batch, has lost its special livery in favour of standard Green Line colours. The bus is seen having been transferred to Grays for the 723. Unfortunately the RCs were not a reliable purchase and spent many months out of use at various times in their history. When some were allocated in 1968 to the southern orbital 725 route, they were used as back up to front line RFs, some ten years older! All ended their days with London Country as buses at Hertford in 1974, some by then in NBC bus livery. They were all sold for scrap, including RC11 which was burnt out in 1971.

The first release of our four window bay B.E.T. casting is decorated in the new, light grey colours of Greenline. This RC class coach, fleet number RC12, registered CUV 70C works Express route 705 to Windsor and was considered by many at the time to be a better class of transport for London commuters.
