Millennium Night - London

President on 10 Around 9.00 pm on New Year's Eve and Oxford Street is as congested as ever. I walked with this President of Metroline from Baker Street to Regents Street. It is seen here outside Selfridges. There were plenty of buses around with good loads on - even before the free fares started. Regents Street and all streets south of Oxford Street were traffic free areas and many buses were terminating at Oxford Circus.
Last Minute
The last minute of the old millennium
The stroke of midnight

The stroke of midnight and champagne showers on Westminster Bridge.
Clarke's Happy New Year It took some time for the crowds to disperse, so it was gone 2.00am when Marylebone High Road was reached. Oxford Street was virtually busless and those that did pass by were well laden! So the first bus picture of the New Millennium is this Volvo/Jonckheere Deauville of premier London operator Clarke's - complete with the most appropriate message on its digital display - 'Happy New Year'
President on N139 The first real bus of the night was yet another President, a Trident on the N139.
Leaside RMC The first real bus of the night? Certainly the first Routemaster of the New Millennium, an RMC of Leaside, clearly not wishing all the fun of the night to be left to those new fangled buses....
President on N18 ...... like yet another President of Centrewest on the N18.
Olympian on N16 Olympians were about too, this Alexander bodied example was being used on the N16 by Metroline - this one's actually in service! One of the last NCME bodied Olympians of Centrewest, normally found on the 83 was too quick for the camera as it went by on the N139.
