The Bath Bus Company was founded in 1997 by four former Badgerline directors. They started sightseing tours in Bath and later tendered bus services. The tours became a City Sightseeing franchisee in 1999 and five years later was purchased by Ensignbus. Another seven years past and another change of ownership to the French RATP operation. RATP were the Paris equivalent of London Transport and are best known for acquisition of London United. In 2013 RATP decided to deploy surplus London buses on a new service linking Bath and southern Bristol to Bristol's airport. This Alexander ALX400 bodied Volvo B7TL A505 (SK52USJ) used to be London United VA310 and is seen in its distinctive Air Decker livery in August 2015 on the outskirts of Bath, Airport bound.

The service soon proved itself successful and warranted the purchase of new vehicles. This Wright bodied Volvo B9TL, A508 (WA64GXW) was een in the city when just sixth months old.
