Bristol's first RELL6L buses had the shallow windscreen and accompanied by the T-screen destination blind. Seen descending St Michael's Hill near Bristol University on the 15 to Hotwells in Autumn 1968 is 1038 (MHW847F).

Returning from Wales along Whiteladies Road that year was RELL6L 1048 (MHW852F). The 300 and 301 services crossed the then new Severn Bridge to Chepstow, Newport and Cardiff.

Around the same time RELL6L G1045 (MHW8444F) was seen in Gloucester with Lodekka FLF6G 7258 (FHY128D). The RE was one of three from the MHW-F to carry a G prefix and was allocated to the Gloucester fleet which, like the Bristol city fleet, still had municipal involvement.

Enjoying early summer sunshine in May 1969 before entering service were RELL6L buses 1104 (SHW126G) and 1108 (SHW128G). This pair, at Lawrence Hill depot, sported the third version of ECW's RE bus body with a deeper windscreen, perforce dispensing with the T-shaped desination blind.
