The former London Country bus services to the north east of London have had a turbulent existence since privatistation. They have all ended up with Arriva together with the former municipal services at Colchester and Southend. Managing the collecion of services has variously involved putting the Southend services with Arrive the Shires or Arriva Kent. The services to the North East of London were at a time self managing or looked after by Arrive the Shires as Arriva the Shires & Essex. During 2016 a radical change put the Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire part of Arrive the Shires & Essex under the management of Arrive Midlands and the Hertfordshire and Essex operations under the management of Arriva Kent Thameside.

Like many operators Arriva Kent Thameside has been experimenting with the new generation of minibuses and tried a number across its operations. Seventeen seat all Mercedes Sprinter City 45 buses took over a number of Hemel Hempstead town services from late 2017. Sprinter 1005 (BF67WFY) is seen in May 2018 a month before the unpopular experiment ended.
