Elderly ECW VRs got painted into the Shires colours too. This ex Maidstone & District example is returning from a school run in Aylesbury.

Still working flat out on Luton/Dunstable services is former 960, now 5050 (VVV960W), seen here at Dunstable Square in the summer of 1999.

At the same time, this VR was still in the latter day colours of Luton and District, before the blue and yellow uniform livery was adopted. Virtually the whole fleet had been repainted prior to Arriva colours making their debut.

Despite deliveries of new deckers to Watford and Aylesbury (in Arriva colours) ex London Country AN class Atlanteans soldiered on in High Wycombe, mainly on school contracts and services to Bucks College, though they did find their way on to stage services, usually the 372 to Chesham. This AN is coping with the usual crush of morning traffic round the John Hampden and Wycombe High Grammar Schools at Handy Cross where a new bus lane for school buses has just been installed.
