This view of 106 is on the Wednesday and Saturday, Market Days, service 3 from Aylesbury to Brill. The bus is believed to be parked opposite Mrs Kirby's, a local elderly lady who would join the service near Ashenden and travel to Brill, then back past her house all the way to Aylesbury. She would do the same in reverse on the return journey and drivers would always help her off the bus and carry her shopping to the front door. Everyone on the bus knew Mrs Kirby and would update her on the latest births, marriages and deaths. The service was later extended to Oakley and as an economy measure the afternoon journey returned via Springhill Prison to save sending an afternoon bus out to the prison on visiting days. Sadly Mrs Kirby had to disembark on the way to Oakley in the afternoon, but she was an invaluable aid to new drivers when it came to route learning. In her later years drivers would collect her shopping in Aylesbury and drop it off for her, and when she was admitted to Stoke Mandeville Hospital several went to visit her.
