Distinctive though the London Buses Optare Spectras were on route 3, they were soon dispensed with in London Central ownership. Spectra SP10 (K310FYG) was sent to Go-Ahead Northern, with most of the batch, as their 3842. It later headed south to Carters, in whose livery it is seen at the 2007 North Weald event.

Alexander Royale bodied Olympians were also part of the London Central fleet, but the style was dropped in favour of what became ubiquitous Northern Counties bodied variants (the NV class). Royale AV2 (M82MYM) passed to Centra and is seen freshly painted in their colours at the 2004 North Weald Rally. The bus later passed to Veolia in northern England.

Seen in company with an ex Reading Buses Plaxton President bodied Dennis Trident at SHOWBUS 2010 is former NV163 (R163LGH). Both are used with West Midlands based GreenBus as school buses.

Former London General NV163 seen earlier in the morning arriving at Duxford.

Plaxton President bodied Volvos have also started to quit the fleet. Former PVL200 (X502EGK) has retained its fleet number in the east London based mixed fleet of Excetera. The bus is primarily for school work and is seen at the very wet 2012 London Bus Rally at Wiseley in April 2012.
