Not only did 2002 see the centenary of Bournemouth's own bus fleet but also the Golden Jubilee of Her Majesty the Queen. Broadly speaking the fleet is still in the same ownership as it was 100 years ago. To commemorate the occasions, new East Lancs Vyking bodied Volvo B7TL Cabryolet (!) 431 (HJ02HFB) was been painted gold and lettered accordingly. The bus is seen at the Southsea Spectacular before the heavens opened. |

The bus was displayed alongside one of Thamesdown's new SPD Darts for Park & Ride services, 200 (WV02NNC). |

The bus also participated in September in the Gold Run to Duxford as part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations. It is seen at Cambridge's Trumpington Park & Ride site prior to the start of the run. Picture by Liz Chubb |

At Duxford 431 was displayed with the other Gold Run entrants. The First Aberdeen Walker bodied Albion PM28, 79 (RG1173), led the procession. |
  |
"Air Show" was obviously pre-programmed on 431's blind and made a suitable destination for Duxford. The man with the umbrella and the spots on the camera lens show the day was not without the occasional drops of rain!
