Contending with Southamton's AECs was this batch of Leyland Titan PD2As with uncomfortable looking Park Royal bodies, like 337 (337AOW) here, delivered in 1963. The batch (333-342) commenced delivery in 1962 at the same time as a smaller batch of AEC Regents, also with matching AOW registrations (313-322).

After one more batch of Regents (393-402), Southampton capitulated to the rear engined doubledecker and with AEC not in that market the Leyland Atlantean was chosen, but with favoured East Lancs bodywork. The last of a batch of ten delivered in 1972 was 171 (EOW404L) seen in the city when still quite new.
