Relatively rare in a Stagecoach fleet was the striking Optare Delta based on the DAF SB220 bus chassis. This East Kent vehicle 1403 (J403LKO) is sweeping into the Stagecoach arena at the first Duxford rally in the livery used for the Canterbury Park & Ride service, thus avoiding the Stagecoach stripes!

A few years later and the success of the Canterbury Park & Ride necessitated the use of low floor doubledeckers like this Dennis Trident with Alexander ALX400 bodywork diverted from delivery to East London where it was supposed to be TA402 (Y402NHK). Instead it became 7003 (Y103GHC) and helped East Kent win the Premier Operator Award at SHOWBUS international 2001.
