Seen at Showbus 97 with Northampton Transport's similarly liveried gas powered Volvo/Alexander was the electric powered Mercedes 609 with Reeve Burgess body in the Provincial fleet, 100 (VCL461), dating from 1987, but its electric conversion was much more recent.

An early Carlyle bodied Mercedes 811D in First Provincial colours is seen in the Southampton Portswood depot. The Devon registration betrays its origins as a vehicle purchased in the days of Harry Blundred's Admiral operations in Portsmouth, which were ultimately absorbed into the First's Hampshire operation. The bus, then 702, was new as Red Admiral 385 (H176GTA).

A Marshall bodied Mercedes minibus seen in central Southampton, late at night. The bus has gained a Southampton fleetname, but sports the Provincial local livery having been transferred within First's Hampshire operations from Portsmouth.

First Provincial 190 (M190XTR) was one of the surviving Marshall bodied Iveco 59.12 buses which were delivered new to Provincial. It was seen in Portsmouth freshly painted in "Barbie 2" livery.

This Plaxton Beaver 2 bodied Mercedes Vario O814D was new to Midland Red West as 555 (S955RWP). Transferred south and numbered 52555 in First's national scheme, the Vario is on display at Netley Park in summer 2008. |
