Seen in Southampton sunshine in July 2000 was 649 (MUF488), one of a batch of ten Beadle bodied buses purchased in 1953. What was even more unusual was their semi-integral construction, built using Leyland TS8 components.

At Alton in July 2015 was this immaculate ECW bodied Leyland Tiger PS1, 1249 (HCD449) of 1947. ECW was nationalised shortly after and could no longer supply the open market, so Southdown had to wait three decades until its nationalisation enabled it to buy more ECW products.

From Southdown's first batch of 36 ft long buses was 672 (272AUF). These PSU3 Leyland Leopards had Marshall bodywork, and this one is seen in Worthing.

Willowbrook 45 seat bodywork sits on this late Leopard PSU3 of Southdown 199 (KUF199F), delivered at the end of the true Southdown era. Subsequent deliveries were Bristol RELL buses, albeit in green and cream, but not long after that gave way to NBC green and white deliveries, before the Stagecoach stripes wiped even the company name away. There was a brief respite in the early days of privatisation when apple green and cream returned. Leopard 199 lives on as a reminder of halcyon days and is seen at North Weald in 1999.
