Stagecoach South 602 (405DCD) carries a registration, immediately recognisable to many, as once adorning a Northern Counties bodied Southdown PD3, this Volvo B10M shares the same make of bodywork as well as the registration with the former PD3.

Standard Stagecoach fare, an Alexander bodied Olympian in service with South Coast Buses in Brighton, more interesting is the B&H East Lancs Scania behind (though Stagecoach had a few of those tucked away in the North East at the time).

This was the first Dennis Dart for the Stagecoach group, delivered at the end of 1991, 501 (J501GCD). It was one of 52 for the south coast companies and was new to Hastings & District. The Alexander Dash bodies were favoured for some years, but rarely by anyone other than the Stagecoach group. The bus is seen at the Royal Victoria bus rally in 2008 having recently been restored to orignal livery by the company. Immediately prior to that it was in a livery close to Southdown original colours, commemorating the centenary of Worthing Motors, a company long since absorbed by Southdown. Alongside is another of the batch (524) sold to Emsworth & District and in service in old Hants & Sussex livery. |
