Purpose built MCW Metrorider minibus 149 (E149TBO) joined the fleet a year later and used the Cardiff "Clipper" branding. Cardiff used smaller buses on some lightly used
cross city routes and subsidised rural services just beyong the city. Initially there was some competitive activity with National Welsh's Bustler minibuses in the early days of deregulation.

Cardiff has bought secondhand vehicles from time to time. A very unusual purchase was this Seddon bodied Seddon Pennine IV 25 seat dual purpose midibus which used to be Eastbourne 94 (MJK94L). Unique in the Eastbourne fleet, it joined Cardiff's own small batch of Pennine IVs. |
A short lived member of the Plymouth fleet (their 60) was this Renault S56, seen here as Cardiff 103 (D160LTA). |
