Volvo Ailsa doubledeckers, with their characteristic Alexander bodies have become yesterday's buses. This 1977 example was acquired by Wallace Arnold as a mobile hospitality unit, with a professional conversion inside to equip it for its new role. It was kindly loaned by Wallace Arnold for use as Rally Control at Showbus in 97 and 98. Seen here in 1997 it was repainted in the cream livery for 1998.

Seen again at SHOWBUS international 2001 in full WA livery, the Ailsa fulfilled its role again. By 2000 the lower deck was fully bus seated and the vehicle was used for crew transfers. |
The most useful feature of the Ailsa for "ShowERbus" is the awning on the nearside as it always seems to rain just as the prizes are about to be presented and 2002 was no exception. The bus sports a commemorative Gold Run Golden Jubilee rosette. |
