On the Ring Road is Metropolitan 282 (GJF282N). The bus was withdrawn prematurely in 1984 and replaced by one of London Transport's Metropolitans, MD127 (OUC127R), as the capital dumped them as non standard buses by mid 1983 when it once again found itself with too many buses. Before disposal MD127 had been painted in an experimental white and red Express livery proposed for route 177. On arrival in Leicester it gained the city's new white and red (with grey) livery and took 282's fleet number.

Another Metropolitan is seen in the city's shopping centre.

Spring blossoms frame an interesting trio of buses. The first, a Metropolitan, has a curious diamond above its destination blinds, behind is one of the Dominators purchased to replace the Metropolitans, whilst a Midland Fox DMS approaches from behind.

Geoffrey Hilditch, General Manager at Halifax, was heavily involved in the development of the Dennis Dominator, the chassis that lead to Dennis' re-entry into the British Bus Market. Whilst the chassis enjoyed favour with some operators, noticeably South Yorkshire PTE, it did not enjoy the success of the Dart model. Before any could enter service in Halifax, Mr Hilditch moved to Leicester and his Dominator came with him. Most had East Lancs bodywork as this photo of 237 (UFP237S) shows.

East Lancs bodied the vast majority of Dominators. This one is a little unusual, 231 (UFP231S), is a Marshall bodied example - doubledeck bodies being unfamiliar projects for Marshall.

A second photo of 237 was taken at SHOWBUS 78. The one above is on the road run from Windsor at Langley and this at the Hillingdon Showground.
