The late lamented Midland Red would have been 100 years old in 2004. First the advent of the West Midlands Passenger Transport Executive, then deregulation and privatisation saw the heart ripped out of the company before it was quartered. All four companies now the spiritual succesors of Midland Red celebrated by painting at least one bus in mock Midland Red colours and out of normal corporate liveries. Arriva and Stagecoach's were at Showbus with a selection of preserved BMMO buses (First's was on show in 2005). This is Stagecoach Midland Red's 20202 (M202LHP), a Volvo B10M with Alexander PS bodywork leaving the showground. |

History sort of repeated itself in 2019 when Banbury's Alexander Dennis Enviro200MMC 37401 (YX65PXS) was similarly repainted to celebrate the depot's centenary. It is seen arriving at the Hertfordshire County Showground for SHOWBUS that year.
