Seen at the 1976 National Showbus Rally at Hillingdon when new was WMPTE 4787 (JOV787P), one of 100 Ailsa/Alexander doubldeckers purchased. Alongside, another Anglo-Swedish product, Scania/MCW MD30 (KJD230P) of London Transport. The somewhat controversial foreign purchases occured when Leyland Bus was experiencing difficulty with decker production and limiting customers to a restricted chassis range. |

Now preserved, this photo comes courtesy of its preservationists. WMPTE 4653 (GOG653N) is one of a batch of 100 MCW bodied Bristol VRTSLs delivered in the early seventies. It was a time when a number of PTEs took delivery of Bristol VRs without the customary ECW bodies found in NBC fleets.
