Christmas decorations in Melbourne are always colourful, with the new addition of a giant Lego Christams tree in Federation Square, but the decorations would not be complete without the Christmas Tram. Classic Class W 866 is seen in Flinders Street on the remaining City Circle route which the famous old cars operate, new E class trams have seen them disappear from routes 30 and 78 in the last year or so. The restaurant cars also survive. There is speculation that PTV, the public transport body in Victoria, want to rid the city of the remaining Class W cars on the grounds that they are slow and hold up other trams. This would be true if they still plied other routes around the city other than the City Circle.
